![](https://3920319084-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FUzLb2yEh5vprUvIcsmqQ%2Fuploads%2Fi5XnPxw7VD14Zw9LHbWS%2FHow%20Run%20Node.png?alt=media\&token=17ed0ecc-5f3c-4e75-bc39-df411a154604)

There are 2 options how to run a Callisto Network node.

1. The simpliest way is to download a precompiled binary of of the go-callisto/geth client from github.

{% hint style="info" %}
<https://github.com/EthereumCommonwealth/go-callisto/releases/tag/1.10.13-Release>
{% endhint %}

\
After downloading, copy the binary to /usr/local/bin with the name of the binary “geth”.<br>

```
chmod 775 ./geth-linux-amd64
sudo mv ./geth-linux-amd64 /usr/local/bin/geth
```

2\. Another option is to compile the source code. To do so please follow the steps below.\
\
This is a simple tutorial for compiling the source code of the go-callisto/geth client.&#x20;

What do you need first? A fresh install of the OSes!

Let's Go :)<br>

### **Preparation for UBUNTU 18.04**

We start this tutorial by preparing Ubuntu 18.04. It is necessary to install Go.

#### Installing Go:

```
$ wget https://go.dev/dl/go1.21.1.linux-amd64.tar.gz
$ sudo tar -C /usr/local –xzf go1.21.1.linux-amd64.tar.gz
$ sudo chown -R root:root ./go
$ sudo mv go /usr/local
```

\
Now we will add PATH to the profile, to do this open the ".profile" file.

```
$ sudo nano ~/.profile
```

Add this 2 lines to the end of the ".profile" file.

```
export GOPATH=$HOME/work
export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/go/bin:$GOPATH/bin
```

![Add PATH to profile](https://3920319084-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FUzLb2yEh5vprUvIcsmqQ%2Fuploads%2FqOT828Swe8qC77zWccCa%2FSans-titre-1.jpg?alt=media\&token=46058bb4-ef62-44ad-ae71-a644fc5fa33f)

Load the profile with:

```
$ source ~/.profile
```

Install the dependency for compiling.

```
$ sudo apt-get install build-essential
```

### **Preparation for CentOS**

In this step, we will install the dependencies for the Go-Callisto client compilation.

```
$ sudo yum install wget nano git gcc
```

Installing Go:

```
$ wget
https://go.dev/dl/go1.21.1.linux-amd64.tar.gz
$ sudo tar -C /usr/local –xzf go1.21.1.linux-amd64.tar.gz
```

Now we will add PATH to the profile, to do this open the ".bash\_profile" file.

```
$ sudo nano ~/.bash_profile
```

Add this line to the end of the ".bash\_profile" file.

```
export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/go/bin
```

Load the profile with:

```
$ source ~/.bash_profile
```

### **Installing Go-Callisto**

Now that Go is installed, the next step is to install Go-Callisto/Geth client. The command is same under Ubuntu or CentOS.

Clone the repo.

```
$ git clone -b master https://github.com/EthereumCommonwealth/go-callisto.git
$ cd go-callisto
```

Make the go-callisto/geth client.

```
$ make geth
$ sudo cp build/bin/geth /usr/local/bin/
```

\
Check Go-Callisto/Geth client version.

```
$ geth version
```

![Example of Geth Version output.](https://3920319084-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FUzLb2yEh5vprUvIcsmqQ%2Fuploads%2Frb2oljs6XJfGSxKLKK0O%2FSans-titre-1.jpg?alt=media\&token=e4ed2c08-3b14-4d48-bc94-0004d8c44e66)

### &#x20;**Running The Node**

\
To run Go-Callisto/Geth client type the following command:

```
$ geth
```

\
Depending on what you intend to do with the node itself, you have several options. Do you plan to make an Explorer? A mining pool? A web wallet? Or perhaps just run a node? All options and their details are listed in the section below.
